Since 1995 the Borinquen Writing Project (BWP) has offered a professional development program dedicated to the <!–[if !vml]–><!–[endif]–>improvement of writing skills in all schools, public and private, in Puerto Rico. It offers teachers ways to help their students become successful writers and learners. The BWP is affiliated to the National Writing Project sponsored by the University of California in Berkeley and is a part of the innovative projects offered by the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The year 2004-2005 welcomed a new staff to the BWP: Prof. Myrna Monllor (Director), Dr. Mireya Salazar (Co-director) and Prof. Helen Domenech (Activities Coordinator). In October 2005, Mr. Luis Colón joined the group as tech liaison and BWP’s teacher consultants chose María Antúnez, Gabriel Súarez, Mildred Serra, Carmen Medina, Alma Di Cristina, and Gloria Fuentes as our Advisory Board.
